Our Fall season starts Thursday, September 17th, 2026
SingYourJoy’s Emerge Choir is a non-auditioned, affordable community choir for youth. Through weekly rehearsals and several performance opportunities during the year, these young people learn musical and life skills. They learn to cooperate as a group, encouraging and motivating each other to reach their potential. Singers learn vocal technique, music reading skills, and performance and listening skills.
- Ages: 9 to 15 years. (should be turning 10 by December 31st, 2026)
- For Treble Voices: We will be singing in a ‘register’ that might be a challenge for a ‘changed or changing voice’, but we will try to accommodate to the best of our ability.
- Emerge Choir is a fun activity. And it focuses on good choral technique, learning to read music, singing as part of an ensemble, and growing friendships through a worthwhile shared endeavour.
- Performance is part of the learning process and gives a major boost to the youth’s self-confidence. We will perform as often as we can.
- We will strive for growth from each participant as their ability allows (versus seeking perfection in performance).
- Rehearsal Location: James Bay United Church, 511 Michigan St. Victoria, BC
- Rehearsal Day & Time: Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 6pm (with a 10 minute break midway)
- Fees: There are no fees associated with this choir. SingYourJoy Family of Choirs programs are funded through grants and donations. SingYourJoy Young Adult Chorus Society is a Registered Charity under CRA legislation.
- ** Open Rehearsal Night Thursday, September 24th 4:30 to 6pm, parents and guardians of returning, new and prospective singers are welcome to join us for a full rehearsal. We will demonstrate our techniques and speak directly to the adults in the room about our program and the planned activities for the season. This is a great time to get all your questions answered and see if our choir program is right for your young person.
